Introducing Your Baby to Your Dogs

Babies and dogs can be best of friends but it's very important to teach boundaries. Dogs can get jealous of new arrivals, but if you follow some rules and play it safe you can have a very healthy and happy brood.

I had wonderful success with my jack Russell mix and my baby but it was a rocky start. The first night I brought Noa home, my dog, Gypsy, cried the whole night. She wouldn't go near me or the baby for about a week and would not let me touch her. We were the best of friends before I had my baby so it was very distressing. But I took it slow and gradually over a few weeks she would sit on my lap while I held the baby. Now Noa is 18 months and they are firm friends - I trust Gypsy with my baby and she protects her. — Melissa, Gypsy & Noa
